Delicious waffles made with sourdough discard that are perfect for brunch or breakfast any day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 g Sourdough Starter (discard or fed and bubbly)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 180 g Whole Milk (can substitute buttermilk if you prefer)
  • 50 g Butter (Melted)
  • 150 g All Purpose Flour
  • 50 g Sugar
  • 10 g Baking Powder
  • 5 g Salt (can adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Combine the sourdough starter, milk, and eggs in a large mixing bowl until blended well.
  2. Add the melted butter and stir to combine.
  3. Whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing just until you have a pourable batter.
  5. Preheat your waffle iron and pour the batter into it. Cook until golden brown.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the batter; a few lumps are fine to keep the waffles airy. For crispier waffles, adjust the cooking time slightly longer.
