A quick and easy homemade pizza dough with just four ingredients, perfect for any pizza lover.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (512 g) bread flour or all-purpose flour, plus more for assembly
  • 3 to 4 teaspoons (10 to 15 g) kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon (4 g) instant yeast
  • 1.75 to 2 cups (400 to 454 g) lukewarm water

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, salt, and instant yeast in a large bowl.
  2. Slowly add the lukewarm water. Use a rubber spatula to mix until the water is absorbed and a sticky dough ball forms.
  3. Pour a drop or two of oil over the top and rub it in with your hands to coat.
  4. Cover the bowl with a damp tea towel or plastic wrap and set it in a warm spot for 60 to 90 minutes, until the dough has doubled in size.
  5. If baking right away, place a Baking Steel or pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 550°F for at least 45 minutes.
  6. Flour your work surface liberally. Turn the dough out onto the floured surface and use a bench scraper to divide it into 4 equal portions.
  7. Form each portion into a ball, using floured hands to pinch the dough underneath.
  8. If not baking the same day, place the dough balls in a covered container and refrigerate or freeze for later use.
  9. Shape each ball into a 10″ to 12″ round.
  10. Transfer the dough round to parchment paper, top with desired ingredients, and bake until the top is blistered, about 5 minutes.
  11. Remove from the oven, add fresh basil if using, slice, and serve.

Notes

For a classic Margherita, spread 2 ounces of tomato sauce, add 3 ounces of mozzarella, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with sea salt. Consider adding a tablespoon of olive oil for extra flavor.
